I had some issues at first with LazyDroid, and the author doesn't have much instructions so I figured I'd write my own getting started guide for all of you confused LazyDroid users.
The app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.MarcelloAlbano.LazyDroidServer
This app lets you use your phone from a computer. Cool, right? Well... It's only cool if you get it working. Here's how to do that! (WiFi ONLY instructions!!!!)
1) Get the app from the market.
2) On your phone activate your WiFi and connect to a network. Preferably your home network because any filtering or security that can be on corporate/public networks could screw things up.
3) Once you've got your phone on that network, point your computer to the SAME network. There is other ways to do this (and for those of you that know those ways you need no help here), but the easiest way is to have your phone and laptop connected to the same network. This means that the computer and phone must be connected to the same router and neither can be behind another router or anything for this to work properly (without tinkering with technical bits).
(NOTE: You can check this fairly easily. You need to open up command prompt and find your IP adress. The first 3 sets of numbers (192.168.0 in my case) should be the same three sets listed on the app when you start it on your phone. If those three sets of numbers are off at all you won't be able to make a connection. However, don't pay attention to the fourth set of numbers as that can be anything and it won't affect your end success or failure.)
4) Navigate to the app and click on it from your app drawer. It will display your phone's IP address on the network below the big button on your screen. Remember this number because it will let you use LazyDroid from your computer. The number will look something like this, 192.168.0.100:8080.
(NOTE: For LazyDroid to work properly your screen MUST NOT fall asleep. The app insists that you make your phone not fall asleep while on WiFi (which is fine), but I prefer to just prevent the phone from falling asleep while it's plugged in because the only time I use LazyDroid is while the phone is plugged in. To do this go to Settings>Applications>Development>Stay Awake. Now while your phone is on power it will never sleep. This will allow LazyDroid to work properly.)
5) Now move on over to your computer. KEEP IN MIND. Did you check to make sure you're on the same network? Did you remember that IP from LazyDroid on your phone? If you can answer yes to both of these proceed to enter that IP address into the address bar of your web browser of choice. Any will do, but I've found Chrome to be the snappiest and least buggy.
6)THIS WAS A TRIUMPH... If all was done correctly you should now be staring at the screen looking at your LazyDroid webtop for your phone. TIME TO BE LAZY!
ProTip: Check out Plug In Launcher (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.launcher.plugin&feature=search...) if you want LazyDroid to start whenever you plug your phone in (like I do).
Hope this helped a few people!
Thanks Tangentabacus for this how to!
